Sell unwanted Books, Textbooks, CDs, DVDs, Video Games, and e-readers for cash!

We pay top dollar for your stuff! The best part is that we make it easy, and evaluate your items quickly! We pay cash on the spot, and will also offer a store credit which never expires. You are free to keep any or all of the items, with no obligation. Credits are linked to your name, which means there is no ticket to keep track of and potentially lose. If you need help bringing your boxes in from the car, just let an associate know and we are more than happy to help with a "carry-in." We strive to evaluate all buybacks within 10 minutes. If you have a bulk evaluation, feel free to call ahead and give us a heads-up, or even schedule a time that is convenient for you. (Bulk buys are 200 items or more). No appointment is ever necessary, however.

What To Know

Pennyworth Books buys and sells over a million items each year. We've been in business since 2004, and are expanding every year. We have the experience and means to offer more money than anyone else.

Books / Textbooks

Generally we buy all books printed within the last 40 years. We're not picky on subjects, authors, or genres. If you enjoyed reading it, chances are, we can find someone else who will, too. Hardbacks, paperbacks, new and old--as long as it is in decent shape (not water damaged or falling apart), chances are excellent that we will buy it.

In regard to textbooks, we have much stricter guidelines than regular books. We generally pay the most for textbooks that are less than five years old. There are always exceptions, but this is a good rule of thumb. We also pay the most when writing, underlining, highlighting, or notes are minimal. All supplements should be included and absolutely NO water damage / stains to the textbook of any kind. Student Access Kits (like MyMathLab) must have the access codes sealed (or else they are useless and unable to be purchased by us).

CDs

We buy every genre of music CDs, including music club CDs (for example, ones from Columbia House or BMG Music Service). All CDs must have the front booklet, back insert, and the jewel case. We deduct 40 for each jewel case we need to replace, (presuming they met our criteria to buy them in the first place), whether it is missing, cracked, or damaged. We buy boxed sets as well. All CDs must be in working order, and free of any scratches.

We cannot buy CDs without artwork. We also cannot buy CDs marked "Promo Only" or ones marked of similar nature. We will not buy burned CDs, unauthorized items not produced by the original manufacturer, counterfeit, or otherwise illegally produced CDs.

DVDs (Single movies and TV season series sets)

Every DVD must have a barcode to be considered for purchase. We buy all types of movies from any era and region. We buy season sets, comedy specials, TV series. All DVDs must have the case and outside artwork. Due to the prevalence of counterfeit DVDs, anything sealed will be opened and inspected.

We cannot buy DVDs missing the plastic case. All DVDs must be in working order, and free of any scratches.

We cannot buy DVDs marked "Screener," "Not for resale," "Not for sale" or ones marked of similar nature. We will not buy burned DVDs, unauthorized items not produced by the original manufacturer, counterfeit, or otherwise illegally produced DVDs. We cannot purchase ex-library items, or partial sets (missing one DVD in a multi-unit set).

Local Music Night

To close up the work week, Friday nights at 7:30, come on by and listen to a local artist play music. Pennyworth Books is really much more than just a bookstore. It is a fun place to go and explore. We promise new experiences and adventures each visit.

Book Clubs

Have you wanted to join a book club, but haven't been able to find one that is just right? Why not start your own? A book club is a great way to meet new friends and read good books, and here at Pennyworth Books, we will help facilitate you through each step.

It is much easier to start a book club with two or three people who already have some connection. Ask around the office, play groups, or your church or civic organizations. Sometimes you might find enough people to start a book club right away. Often you'll at least recruit some help in completing the rest of the steps.

An ideal size for a book club is 8 - 12 people. As you can imagine, it is often difficult to coordinate that many schedules. Go ahead and set a regular meeting time and date for your book club with your core group. For instance, have the book club meet every other Tuesday at 6:30PM. By setting the time before advertising the book club, you avoid playing favorites when working around schedules and are up front about what commitment is required.

Get together with your potential book club members and set the group's ground rules. (You might want everyone's input; however, if you have set ideas of what you want, then set the rules with your core group and announce them at this first meeting). The ground rules should include how books are chosen, who hosts, who leads discussions and what kind of commitment is expected.
