Why Civic and Community Engagement (CCE)?
¶·Å£ÆåÅÆ University seeks opportunities to develop a deeper community presence that is driven by authentic, sustainable, and measurable engagement. Change does not happen in a vacuum. We believe that effective change must take place in a community. ¶·Å£ÆåÅÆ University seeks to have a local and global impact. This globalized approach to developing world changers equips our students and employees to take-informed action in as many communities as there is an ¶·Å£ÆåÅÆ University presence.
At ¶·Å£ÆåÅÆ, we demonstrate our faith not only through the parsing of biblical truths but also by serving our neighbors. As we celebrate our diversity, we work with varied population groups and aim to create non-judgmental opportunities to listen and develop empathy. Caring for others affirms our faith.
We are committed to providing each student with the opportunity to engage local and global communities. We support pedagogical approaches that incorporate in-service learning and promote the common good. Our initiatives in education, health, and innovation are developed in collaboration with community stakeholders, university departments, students and professors. We are exploring new collaborations to build capacity and create additional programs that benefit the residents—especially the underserved populations—of Southwest Michigan. World Changers impact the world starting with their community.
